    Charlotte show

Mark Knoplfer has such a distinctive sound.  Whether he's on acoustic, steel guitar, or his favorite Fender, he makes it look completely effortless.  This was easily the best performance I've seen so far this year.  In fact, it was my favorite concert since the Led Zeppelin reunion in London and among the 5-10 best I've ever seen in my 21+ years of living in Charlotte.  And, I make a point of not missing too many shows.

His six-man band plays stand-up bass, drums, organ, piano, some sort of wooden flute, bass guitar, accordian, and a host of acoustic and electric guitars.  It reminded me of a Los Lobos show in that no matter what instrument they have in their hands, they play it very well.  I don't know where he's going next, but if he comes anywhere near you, be sure to get there.  They play a few songs from the new release and a bunch of classic Dire Straits tunes.  "Brothers In Arms" and "Telegraph Road" were probably my favorites.

If a quality tape or photos are available, I'd love to know.
