    August 12 - Mark's birthday

    Hi everybody

Just a reminder : Mark's birthday, August 12th is comming closer.  Cake

I was thrilled by the idea of what his fans from all around the world might wish to him.

I'm sure if it's possible everybody would like to gather at some place (hundreds of thousands) to celebrate singing with him.

Maybe it can work somethng next year for his 60th anniversary.

    Best

    Xhimi

    Re: August 12 - Mark's birthday

    Xhimi,

great idea - next year for his 60's.

We could all meet up at a common place; one meeting in the US and one in Europe.

Maybe Newcastle, London or New Forest/UK? A big meeting of fans like the annual Indian-motorcycle meeting or Harley-Davidson-meetings or whatever! A 3 or 4 days-camp somewhere out, with bonfires, music (Aurelien??any other musicians??) and great atmosphäre at 12.08.2009.

Some could write birthday songs, some could write lyrics (and if Mark in his wildest dreams ever should have the idea to scroll through the boards, he could make some posts like- "the best songs, the worst lyrics"Big Smile)

And while Mark tries to "forget" this day (I remember my 40-th with horror) and want's to have a silent time with his family and closest friends, we'll have a great party, not bad, the idea.

I see the problem - who will organize it all and all the permissions, it's not so easy to manage it.

Question: Who of the members are interested in a big party next year?????????

    Regards

    Dear HS...

I' ve been trying to write something for THIS birthday, but I' m not truly coming through anything suitable... Should improve my English I suppose. Yes, that would be a good thing having one more year to think about it...

The date is unfortunate for me anyway: I work in a place that never closes, so I have to exchange my holidays with collegues... and we always try to keep August for those with kids who are off school in that period. I have none, so I' m always left with June, beginning-July, September... like this year! But who knows!

As for forgetting the -0th birthdays... well, John Mayall made a Cd+Dvd out of his 70th birthday concert! As you can see, there are some people who don' t need to forget those dates, but on the contrary do a lot to remember them. Which side is Mark on? Don' t know. What did he do on 12th August 1989? And in 1999? I don' t know, I' m not a devoted-enough fan... I anyone knows, I' m a bit curious...

Is 40th birthday so terrible? I' m asking you because mine is coming next year... Truly, I haven' t yet decided wether to do an EXPLOSIVE party, or spend 3 days on top of a mountain talking only to lambs... My Franco had a bad period after THAT birthday... he was always a-saying: look at all this grey hair... I' m getting so old! I tried to reply: well man, it' s years since your hair is growing grey, the problem is, you notice it only by now! Well, at the end only "shopping" could cure him from this kind of "age-depression": he bought himself a brand new motorbike, right at the age everyone is selling his own! By now he' s all right... until his 50th I suppose...

    Re: August 12 - Mark's birthday

    Hi Anna-Maria,

    what about this:

A GOLDEN THREAD IN PATCHWORK LIFES

    They’re running business, doing jobs

their salarys not less – not much

    grow vegetables, flowers, kids

try day by day – no awful tricks

They love their lifes at normal days

And hate it all when things not right

Save families with all their strength

No rest – until the daylight ends

But sometimes they are helpless, weak

Need hands to stay upon their feet

To go ahead the other day

    No other choice that’s probably

Hear songs they never will forget

And words that brings them care and health

Their golden thread in patchwork lifes

Their golden thread in patchwork lifes

    They listen stunning, standing still

It touches their hearts – no longer ill

It keeps their senses in peaceful minds

And help them leave worries behind

They give them strength for partners, kids

    For everyone a little piece

Sends many shivers down their spines

To dance on it in perfect lines

To hear the tunes, that makes them calm

True lyrics, written in their palms

Their golden thread in patchwork lifes

Their golden thread in patchwork lifes

You see the crowds in concert halls

They sing your songs, they know them all

You play your hymns – the boys aside

As every gig – perfect and right

    Standing ovations in the end

You smile to them, they understand

They’re going home – returning back

Your way home is another track

You have some wine and play some tunes

The fender strat is good for blues

And nod you head right in the end

They know the message that you sent

    END

All right, I confirm, that being creative is a job that costs a lot of sweat & blood and I promise to return back to the contracts, offers, orders and invoices, which is my usual job (losing her looks over company books) Tongue Tied

My best wishes to Mark for August 12. May all his wishes come true and a long and healthy life for him and his family. Deeply from my heart....

    Regards

Ant let them leave bad things behind

The first thing to say, is: I' m not here to teach anything to anyone, especially English language, but... I think you meant "it TOUCHES their hearts"; that' s the first thing; and then, have you thought of "AND HELP THEM LEAVE WORRIES BEHIND" in the last rhyme? Don' t know... I find it lighter.

And then, in the end, you write YOU HAVE SOME WINE AND PLAY SOME TUNES / THE FENDER STRAT IS GOOD FOR TUNES... ehm... well I understand you couldn' t perhaps find another fitting word but... this double "tunes"... really, I don' t like it.

But please, take my words for what they' re worth: very little I suppose. I could say:

ON A KEYBORD I MAKE A LIVING / BUT NOTHING TO DO WITH MUSIC OR WRITING Big Smile

    Re: August 12 - Mark's birthday

    Anna-Maria,

All right, one word was wrong spelled and the other wrong read/written from my script.

I put it down between writing a 53-page offer for a fully house-restoring, a short cup of coffee and an appointment for a Golden Retriever to groom which I squeezed in my calender this morning( I love my 3 jobs but sometimes days should have more hours) .  And it's my first (and surely last) lyric in a foreign language. Consider: I haven't studied English, I just learnt it at school for 6 years and I left school in 1980. A long time ago.....

    It's not perfect - nor am I.

The 40-th birthday is not a joke but worst of all is, to be dead on your 40-th and so it is the better

    alternative .Big Smile

I loved my 44'th because I had an appointment with a brillant guitar-player in Stuttgart this year........

    Regards

    Re: August 12 - Mark's birthday

Between a long offer and a short cup of coffee... usw... well, my friend, THERE lies your poetry!

We should do something to change this hard life, which keep us from expressing fully our talent... Big Smile I mean, just turning to a short offer and a long cup of coffee... Could somewhat mean reaching the "Shangri-La", for us poor wassails...

As for the 40th... here lie my alternatives: - being dead by then (SKIPPED!); - climbing a high mountain and remain there for a week, hoping all friend would have forgotten the date by the time I step down; - doing such a huge party, with such a huge drinking, in order to totally forget how old I am; - riding my Kawa northwards for 8 hours to get myself a brew in a town called Stuttgart... Beer Everyone tells me, I should practice my German a little more...

    Any further suggestion?
